Expert Bridal beauty

By Mona Kapoor   Posted at  06:04

I have been in the beauty business from the past seven years and I specialize in bridal make up. The past few years have made me learn a lot especially one thing- that a bride wants to look no less than a miss universe on her wedding day; which from all aspects is fair! All the bride-to-be’s which come to me have hundreds of queries and doubts about how to get that perfect glow and the unmatchable look for their wedding. So, here I am going to spill the beans today. Following are certain well guarded beauty secrets and tips for all the brides so that they all can look no less than a Cleopatra or a princess Diana on their wedding day.

The skin care regimen

You have to start following this from almost 6 months before your wedding day. If you think that just doing make up on your D-day would make you look stunning then you are in for a loss. So start your preparations well in advance. First of all you have to say bye bye to your stress. Many of you would think that how is it related to beauty, but high stress levels directly affect your skin can even cause acne. So start practicing yoga or any other fun activity to keep your stress at bay. Also, drink lots of water to keep your skin well hydrated. Stock in vegetables and fruits which are rich in vitamin-C as it is very important to keep your skin healthy. Get your facials done regularly and indulge in some sort physical activity like running, swimming etc. to keep your skin healthy.

Its hair

It is a misconception that henna is applied only to color the hair. Make sure you apply henna to your hair at least twice a month to get the shine in your hair. The hot oil massage is the best way to keep your hair healthy. Include protein in your diet and eat almonds every morning on an empty stomach to keep your hair healthy. Go for regular trimmings and try a new hairstyle a few months before.

For the million dollar smile

This is one area which most brides ignore and in this case ignorance is not bliss.  Decrease your tea and coffee intake to keep your teeth white as these drinks tend to stain the teeth. It’s a good decision to opt for the dentist’s professional bleaching services to get the perfect smile on your big day.

The D-day make up

First of all, before wearing your wedding day costume, fragrance yourself properly; so use good scented talcum powder after bath, use deodorant and a good quality perfume. Avoid using liquid foundation as it tends to smudge and wash away and you would need it on the entire night. So it’s better to go for either cream or powder based foundation. Pink blush is good for everyday use not for the wedding. Try to go for bronze or golden blush shades as it’ll give you a diva-like look for your wedding. As for the eyes, use an eye-shadow primer without silicon and feel free to play with shocking colors as they’d give a nice dramatic effect to your eyes. Always go for lipsticks instead of lip gloss for your wedding as they stay on much longer than gloss.
There are other tricks as well, but these are the most important ones. So follow these few beauty secrets which would make you forget your all make up woes for your wedding day; and look your best.

Hair Style for the wedding day

By Mona Kapoor   Posted at  05:57   hairstyle

Everything makes up for a beautiful bride. Hair might not look like a major contributor to your wedding day appearance but it definitely is. What will a good make up do if your strands are not properly tucked? Worse, an unruly hairdo may ruin the effect of your bridal make-up. So here are some quick tips and types to help you get a prim and perfect hairstyle.

Face friendly

Every one of us has a definite face contour. Some have long faces, others have short ones, and some have an oval shape while others are sharper around certain edges. So while getting a hairdo, you need to keep in mind your face style. A bride with an elongated face should look out for a hairstyle that will add volume to her shape. Such people might leave a few strands on the sides of the face if they don't like the hair to be pulled back completely into a bun. This gives a very soft feeling to your face.

Compliments your dress

Your hairstyle must compliment your wedding dress. This is of utmost importance or else it will hamper your complete look. As for example, for off shoulder dress, you might opt for end curls. Leave a few strands loose on the shoulders. This gives a very subtle and romantic look. You must go in for trials with various hairdos before locking in on one of them.

Optional use of veils

In a certain traditional Indian weddings, the bride is expected to wear a veil over her head. In such situations, go in for a hairdo that can balance the veil. If it's a full length veil, your bun or hairdo should be steady and firm to support it.

Accessorize your hairdo

To add little more jazz to your hairdo, you can use certain accessories like flowers, hair broaches, etc. For broaches, keep a small dent on the bun to fit it perfectly.

Types of hairstyles

  • Traditional bun hairstyle: This is the often-used hairstyle in India. Pull up the whole hair in a bun, firmly knitted with clips and other stuff.
  • Sideways bun: It's similar to the above style with the only difference being the position of the bun. Here the bun is placed sideways.
  • French and braided style: this helps to keep you away from run of the mill stuff.

By Mona Kapoor   Posted at  05:01

All of you are different in your way and thus are different your choices. It is very natural for everyone to have some specific choices and desires when it comes to planning a wedding and especially when you are the bride. Read the excerpt below and find out how you can opt for sleek and simple jewellery and look absolutely sophisticated.

Simple jewellery

The very little details to the bigger ones demands equal attention, and in the midst of everything the smaller details concerning the bride goes a miss. However, you still have nothing to worry, if you are keen on keeping it simple yet elegant for yourself. When it is about the jewellery thinking simple is easy, but getting hold of what exactly you want is difficult. However, just try to follow a few basic ideas to easily find the simple ornaments for yourself.

Budget planning

When you are thinking simple and sleek it is obvious that you already have something in mind. What thus, becomes your first step is to decide on the range. Simple jewellery does not always mean low in range. You will have to fix up a budget and chalk out what all ornaments you need. It might just be the earrings and the necklace. While at other times, it might even include bangles and nose pins etc.

Making the choice

Once the budget is fixed, try to browse through online catalogues of various stores to check the range available in that budget. It might be that you like a design offered by one store and you want it in diamonds and stones rather than simply gold.

Mix and match

Never mind, just copy the image or take a printout and order the same in your local store the way you want. Simple sleek jewellery is a sign of sophistication and generally must be a work of precious stones and diamonds.
It is not the heavy weight that matters for simple jewellery but its value is measured in terms of what it is made from.

Being the beautiful bride doesn’t happen easily. It needs a lot of effort and most importantly a lot of time. Yet in haste, we forget a lot of important things that are necessary to make up for an enchanting bride. Here is a three month scheduler for you to help you get all that you need to be a stellar bride!

Planning the whole thing is very important. Surf through online websites or discus with your friends to know where you can get your various facial and decorative stuff done. By the end of the first 30 days, you should be ready with all your appointments in place namely; mehendi, massage, spa, parlour, hairstylist, beautician and others.

Browsing wedding magazines or online portals is a good idea to get a desired look. It will also come in handy while describing it to your stylist.

Get yourself a strict skin care regime. Follow it religiously. Check out a dermatologist and understand your skin’s stretchable limits. This will give you an idea as to how much can you experiment with your skin. If you intend for any cosmetic change, consult a cosmetologist.

Idea for Beautiful Skin

If you’ve already set the date for wedding, then congratulations. But its now time for you to find a good aesthetician and spa; and find one right away. Most brides just get a good facial done a week before the actual event but that not enough. For a full body glow, it’s very essential for the bride-to-be to have a full body spa treatment done well before the wedding. It’s a good idea to have the treatment spaced out over two to three months to get the full effect of a spa treatment not only on your face but on your body too.

What you should do!

There are many treatments that will be suggested but it’s a good idea to start off with the basics. Here is a simple list of what you can start with from three months before your wedding date to get yourself toned up for the big day.

Three months before the big day- Get your hair trimmed and coloured if you want it. Remember that most hair cuts will require time to grow into the style that the stylist wants. Get the haircut done at the same place as you are having your spa and then plan your entire look around the style you have selected. This long time gap will also give you enough time to change your haircut and look if you don’t like it! Get a gloss treatment done too where your hair shines with health. This treatment is not really available with every spa so check beforehand. Ask your aesthetician for the different varieties of blemish control and relaxing massages that they have. Believe me, the stress of preparing for the wedding can make your skin blotchy. But good blemish control and relaxing massages done once every month can work wonders.

Two months before the big day- Now is the time to actually get down to the body scrubs that are done at spas. A body scrub is wonderful way to polish your dull looking skin and get it into top shape for your big day. Most spas will offer simple sugar scrubs, chocolate scrubs or even aromatherapy scrubs that are wonderfully aromatic and relaxing. To prepare your facial skin, ask for an aromatherapy facial combined with a scrub.

Once month before the big day- Not many people do remember this, but I recommend a Brazilian Wax procedure where all the pubic hair is removed. The process is slightly painful but it’s well worth the pain. You will feel clean and clear and it’s really exciting for your husband too. Doing the procedure a month before ensures that the area will heal well and not hold up your wedding night. Along with a Brazilian, ask for a full body wax, body exfoliation (to touch up the body scrub you did last month), a complete facial and a mani-pedicure. This completes the entire routine for your big day.
